I have first heard about Ayurveda a few years ago and I find more and more information every time I document myself about it. It is so complex, that you need a lifetime to learn everything about it. Ayurveda is a Hindu traditional medicine and it includes every aspect of someone’s life. It is actually a way of living that is extremely rare in the occidental society, because our modern lives and not compatible with such a complex and spiritual system.
The only thing we can do is to see what kind of elements we can use in our favor in order to improve our life quality. From diet and healing techniques to a certain set of believes, Ayurveda is one of the most beautiful culture in the world.
Etymological speaking, Ayurveda means the “science of life” in Sanskrit. It is the oldest healing system known by the mankind, combining in a complete harmony theoretical and practical knowledge, called “dosha”. There are three kinds of dosha: Kapha Dosha, a combination of Earth and Water, Pitta dosha (water and fire) and Vata Dosha (air and ether). Besides those combinations, there are more subtle and unique mixes made of the primary ones. It is said that every human being is a complex structure and none of us have the same amount of these elements. By this aspect, there are more criteria by which a person can be individualized.
Dosha helps the healer to be able to realize what kind of problem someone has, because there are some predispositions that highlight what kind of dosha is predominant in someone’s body. A balanced combination means a complete equilibrium with the Universe and with the person.
Those being said, we can conclude that Ayurveda is a holistic method to heal our psychic and body, supporting the interconnection of body and soul. This is the whole purpose of Ayurveda, to heal in a natural way ourselves and have a happy spirit and a healthy lifestyle. The main idea of Ayurveda is to establish the supreme balance between the Microcosmic and the macrocosmic level in each one of us.
Also, Ayurveda uses plants and any natural cure that has a mild effect on our body, but a strong power over time. Ayurveda includes aromatherapy, music therapy, chromatic therapy and many others. Acupuncture is also extremely important and it can balance the vital points of a human being when they are used constantly. They also use physical exercises that balance our body structure and improves our mental state. Being so old, but also so actual, Ayurveda is a point of interest of many modern scientists.
Allopathic medicine gains more and more field in our days and Ayurveda has the most important role, because it guides the basic principles of this science. The main role of allopathic medicine is to offer a peaceful healthy life in a society governed by stress and problems, caused by many complex reasons. In other words, Ayurveda can still have a powerful effect on our lives if we let it in.
