Foot odor is a common problem people face especially during summer time when feet sweat more than often. Foot odor occurs because sweat does not evaporate properly since we are wearing shoes and/or socks throughout the day and the bacteria that naturally lives on skin feed on dead skin cells and sweat, producing the bad smell we all hate. While this problem is very common, most people want to get rid of it since it can lead to embarrassing situations. There are numerous products on the market that promise to solve this problem, but there are also great home remedies for foot odor you can try. In order to obtain good results with these home remedies for foot odor, you have to be consistent and to apply them regularly. Usually, within a week you will notice a difference.

Epsom Salt – Home Remedy For Foot Odor

The first home remedy for foot odor we will talk about is based on Epsom salt. Epsom salt neutralizes the smell and fights bacteria and infections. Epsom salt is also recommended to those who have aching feet.

What you need:

– 2 teaspoons of Epson salt

– ½ bucket of warm water

What to do:

Mix the Epsom salt and water then soak your feet in the solution for 10 to 20 minutes. Do this every day for at least a week. You will see better results if you do this every night before going to bed since you will be able to stay barefoot for a few hours.

Black Tea – Home Remedy For Foot Odor

Another great home remedy for foot odor is black tea. This type of tea contains tannic acid that kills bacteria responsible for foot odor. Black tea also cleans and closes the pores on your feet and reduces the amount of sweat which again leads to less foot odor since skin bacteria won’t be able to feed itself.
