Treating Dry Skin With Raw Honey

Honey is a great natural remedy for numerous skin and health issues. Raw honey is a great moisturizer and anti-irritant and that make is perfect for treating dry skin but it also fights bacteria and aging so the benefits of using raw honey for skin treatments doesn’t stop at moisturizing.

There are numerous ways you can use honey at home to treat dry skin and other skin issues, here are some of them:

Hydrate Your Face With A Raw Honey Moisturizing Mask

Honey draws moisture from the air and it ensures that the moisture is retained in the layers of the skin, that’s why honey is great for long-lasting hydration. If you want to use raw honey as a face mask, clean your face and apply a teaspoon of raw honey on your dry face. Let the mask sit on your face for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

Treat Your Cuticles With Raw Honey, Coconut Oil, And Cider Vinegar

Raw honey is also great for moisturizing your cuticles since honey contains numerous enzymes and nutrients that heal and nourish. For treating cuticles all you have to do is to a teaspoon of raw honey with one teaspoon of coconut oil (another great natural moisturizer) and a teaspoon of cider vinegar (the cider vinegar will soften the hard skin). Rub the mixture on your cuticles, let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse with water.

Hydrate Your Body With A Raw Honey Moisturizer

This raw honey moisturizer is great for your face but it is also amazing for other parts of your body that need moisturizing including your hands, feet, elbows, and knees. You can use it as a head-to-toe moisturizer if you want.

To make the moisturizer mix two cups of honey, two cups of melted cocoa butter, and 10 drops of lavender oil. Apply the moisturizer on clean and dry skin, massaging it into the skin. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water. If you want to use this moisturizer only for your face, use one teaspoon of honey mixed with one teaspoon of melted cocoa butter, and one drop of lavender oil.

If you love baths, you can moisturize your skin with honey by adding it to your tub instead of making it into a full body mask. Mix two tablespoons of raw honey with a cup of hot water. Mix until the honey is dissolved and add the hot water to your tub. Fill the tub with warm water as you would normally do and enjoy your bath.

Exfoliate Your Dry Skin With Raw Honey

If you have really dry skin, moisturizing with raw honey will help, however, exfoliating is also important when you want your skin to be healthy and soft.

You can use raw honey to create a gentle exfoliator that will clean and clear your skin while moisturizing it at the same time. For this treatment, you will need two cups of honey, six tablespoons of cocoa powder, half a cup of grapeseed oil, and two cups of kosher salt. The first two ingredients you have to mix together are the raw honey and grapeseed oil. Then stir in the cocoa powder and the kosher salt. You should obtain a thick and grainy mixture. Gentle massage the mixture onto your skin to exfoliate and moisturize it. Rinse in the shower or with a damp towel.

You can make a raw honey based exfoliator for your face if you mix two tablespoons of honey with one tablespoon of baking soda. Splash your face with warm water and rub the exfoliator on your face. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Raw honey is also great as a pore cleanser and scar fader, especially when mixed with coconut oil.
