5. There is too much fluoride in our water. This is an important concern. In many countries companies use fluoride to purify water and a high percentage might not be good for the human body. However, if the levels are inferior to 10% you will be ok. You can find out this percentage from you local water supplier.

6. Some people love baby toothpaste and think it is better for young children. The fact is that some of these overly commercial brands do not have enough fluoride in them to prevent dental issues. Check the details of the brand you are currently using and make sure it contains at least 1,000ppm fluoride. If you are not sure ask your dentist.

7. An important myth to tackle is the believe that the only sugar that is bad for your teeth is the one you can find in sweets, cakes, fizzy drinks and chocolate. However, even though these foods are bad for you, other substances such as fruit juice, honey and dried fruit contain sugars can destroy your teeth. To avoid having problem because of these types of foods, you should limit the amount you are currently having, not eating them in between meals and brushing your teeth twice a day.

8. One of the worst myths is that you don´t need to brush baby teeth. Despite of the fact that your children will lose their teeth there is no reason why you shouldn´t brush them. This is because if you are able to ensure good hygiene habits early life, you will almost guarantee life-long dental health. Brush your baby´s teeth twice a day from the moment they get their first tooth out.

9. Everyone think that we will need to get false teeth when we get older. Luckily for many of us, due to advancement in technology and improvement in dental hygiene have made 12% of adults use fake teeth, compared to 37% in 1968.
